Calgary Landmark – The Devonian Gardens
The Devonian Gardens has been open since 1977, and was a state-of-the-art facility attracting international attention. After thirty years of being open, much of the infrastructure became outdated, so The City of Calgary Parks did a complete renovation of the attraction. Calgary’s only indoor public park reopened in June of 2012. It is home to 10,000 shrubs, 1.5 million pounds of soil and over 550 trees to create the perfect feeling of a tropical oasis.
The park’s meandering walkways lead to water fountains, ponds filled with fish, and tree-decked plazas. There is even an indoor playground for children to play on. The “living wall” featured in the gardens is a great spot for a photo op! There are also various themed drop-in programs to enjoy.
The Terrace, another feature of the Devonian Gardens, is ideal for wedding ceremonies and corporate events and fundraisers. Up to 350 guests can be accommodated with a variety of seating arrangements. The Event Room and The Gallery are both great locations for smaller private functions.
